Villajoyosa becomes European Ocean Racing capital this year

Spanish town Villajoyosa will be in the spotlight of European Ocean Racing community this year. Home of about 34 thousand people, which is located 30 kilometres north of Alicante, will host two important canoeing events in the year 2018. Between 28th April and 1st May 2018 Eurochallenge race will be organised and then on October 6 and 7 the most important European event of the season - ECA Ocean Racing European Championships – will follow.

Young Polish canoe slalom canoeist was one of the most promising athletes of his generation. During his sporting career he competed at Junior, U23 and Senior level European and World Championships as well as in World Cup series.

Alexander Slafkovský and Jana Dukátová paddlers of the year in Slovakia

Slovak Canoeing awarded the best athletes of the season 2017 in a special ceremony held this Wednesday in Bratislava. This was the first combined awards ceremony for Slovak Canoeing after Wildwater and Sprint Canoe Federation joined forces and continue their activities under one roof and new name Slovak Canoeing. The year 2017 was very successful for both canoe slalom and canoe sprint paddlers, but the main two awards went to the hands of canoe slalom stars Jana Dukátová and Alexander Slafkovský.

Bren Orton sets British record in Mexico

23-year-old British extreme kayaker Bren Orton wrote history by making the longest kayak drop in the British canoeing history. This happened in Mexico’s Big Banana Falls where Orton took on the challenge of the 128 feet drop (about 39 metres). This was the second highest kayak descent in history and the highest waterfall navigated by a British kayaker so far.
