President of Spanish canoe club passed away during the competition

Tragic news comes from Spain where president of the Municipal School of Canoeing Ourense José Luis González 'Chelís' passed away during the competition in Barra de Miño.
José Luis González popularly known as 'Chelís' was an athlete and coach, and the organiser of the event that was held this weekend. He was one of the driving forces of canoeing in the province. He was a regular guest of veteran canoeing competitions. Just last week he stood on the podium twice at the Galician Veteran Championships. At the time of his death he was in a boat competing in the veteran event of the competition when he suffered a sudden indisposition. After the tragic death the event was suspended.
We would like to express our sincere condolences to his family and friends. Rest in peace.

Germany wins three Canoe Polo World Champion titles, Great Britain one

Canada, more precisely Welland, was the location of this year's Canoe Polo World Championships that attracted 68 teams from different continents which competed in women's and men's senior and U21 tournament. European teams did great, winning all the available medals but one. Germany celebrated World Champion titles in women’s and men’s senior event and in women’s U21 part of the tournament. In men’s U21 event Great Britain won the gold medal.

Double Canoeing European Championships in Bratislava starts in one week

We are one week away from the start of a double canoeing European Championships. Slovak capital Bratislava will host the 2018 ECA Junior and U23 Canoe Slalom European Championships, and simultaneously also the 2018 ECA Canoe Freestyle European Championships.

ECA Junior Canoe Slalom Cup – 2018 overall standings

After 12 races in six competition weekends and as many venues we have the overall winners of the 2018 ECA Junior Canoe Slalom Cup series. Athletes who can take part in this event series are grouped into two age categories – U18 and U16 and compete in men’s and women’s kayak and canoe and C2 events. This year the series lead young competitors to Valstagna, Augsburg, Flattach, Solkan, Krakow and Česke Budejovice.
