VIDEO - Canoeing venues for Paris 2024 Olympic Games already under construction

In minds of athletes are the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games but French are already fully devoted to preparing the venues for the 2024 Olympic Games which will be organised in Paris. The venue which is set to host canoe slalom, canoe sprint and rowing events is already under construction.

The main wish is to prepare the venues well before the beginning of the Olympic Games in 2024. “It is great sporting equipment rising from the ground. We can already imagine the tribunes. Everything is there to make it a great party,” says with much enthusiasm the president of the Leisure Island Vaires-Torcy Julien Le Naour.

The leisure island will host canoe sprint, canoe slalom and rowing events of the Games of the XXXIII Olympiad. It is said that venues for canoe sprint and rowing are already functional, while canoe slalom course is being built as we speak and is expected to be finished in 2019.

“This is the biggest stadium in Europe that is being built. There will be several artificial rivers for training as well as for international level competitions,” adds Le Naour.

The project is worth 75 million Euros and French want to follow the model of Lee Valley which hosted the 2012 Olympic Canoe Slalom event, meaning they want to commercialize it and open to general public.
