The year 2023 brings lots of excitement for European Canoeing

The year 2023 brings lots of excitement for European Canoeing 17.3.2023

The time has come for the first international canoe slalom races in Europe. Already this weekend the Pyrenees Cup in Pau will count for the 2023 ECA Open Canoe Slalom European Cup series, and in the following months we will see many exciting competitions throughout Europe.

In Canoe Sprint and Canoe Slalom all eyes will be on the European Games in Krakow. While Canoe Sprint has already been in the sports programme of the European Games in Baku and Minsk, it will be a debut for Canoe Slalom in Poland this June. Canoe Sprint will unfortunately only feature the 200m and 500m events this time because of the lake specifications, and the competitions will kick off on 21st June. Canoe Slalom, together with kayak cross, will start on 29th June. The European Games will count as European Championships and canoe slalom competitions will also be a continental qualification event for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
The 2023 ECA Canoe Marathon European Championships will be held in Slavonski Brod, Croatia, between 13th and 16th July. Earlier in the week, ECA Canoe Marathon Masters Cup will be held in the same venue.
The best European Canoe Polo teams will have two European Championships tournaments this year. First, between 5th and 10th September Brandenburg, Germany, will host the 2023 ECA Canoe Polo European Championships, and a month later, on 7th and 8th October, Spain’s Arcos de la Frontera will be the host of the Canoe Polo Clubs European Championships.
The 2023 ECA Wildwater Canoeing European Championships will return to Skopje, North Macedonia, after six years. The championships in the Matka Canyon will be held between 16th and 20th May.
The 2023 ECA Paracanoeing European Championships will be organised together with Junior and U23 Canoe Sprint European Championships in Montemor-o-Velho, Portugal, between 27th and 30th July.
A week earlier Bratislava, Slovakia, will host the 2023 ECA Junior and U23 Canoe Slalom European Championships (20th – 23rd July).
In addition to European Championships, there are several competitions in the programme that will count for the European Cup series in canoe slalom, wildwater canoeing and canoe polo.
Two canoe polo European Cups are scheduled for June and July in Thury Harcourt (FRA) and Essen (GER).
In the 2023 ECA Open Canoe Slalom European Cup series there are several competitions that will count for the series points. The races will be held in Pau, La Seu d’Urgell, Ljubljana – Tacen, Liptovsky Mikulas, Krakow, Meran, Epinal, Prague and Bratislava.
The 2023 ECA Junior Canoe Slalom European Cup races will be held in Flattach, Valstagna, Ivrea, Bratislava, Augsburg, Krakow, Solkan and Roudnice.
