The 2024 ECA Canoe Marathon European Championships in Poznan, Poland, came to an end with the last four medal events of this competition week. The final European Champion titles went to the hands of athletes from Spain, Denmark, Poland and Portugal.


The 2024 ECA Canoe Marathon European Championships in Poznan concluded with kayak and canoe double races. After exciting competition week on the Malta Lake Poland topped the medals table with a total of eight medals, six of them gold and two silver medals. Hungary was the most successful nation in terms of medal count, concluding the championships with 18 medals, but they won a gold medal less than Poland. Hungary won five gold medals, four silver medals and nine bronze medals.
 
Danish duo Soren Maretti - Philip Knudsen was the fastest in men's K2 senior event over 29,80 kilometres long course. It was a very intense race as the top three teams crossed the finish line inside 1.21 seconds. French kayakers Quentin Urban and Jeremy Candy were second, just 0.66
behind, while bronze medal went to Spain with Miguel Llorens and Alberto Plaza (+1.21).
 
In women's K2 event Irati Osa and Arantza Toledo celebrated European Champion title for their performance on a 26,20 kilometres long course. They stopped the clock at 2:02:33.26. Two Hungarian crews Vanda Kiszli - Zsofia Voros and Panna Csepe - Panna Sinko were second and third respectively, 1:23.72 and 1:30.63 behind.
 
In men's C2 race Polish duo celebrated gold medal to much satisfaction of the host nation. Mateusz Borgiel and Mateusz Zuchora (1:48:30.44) won with almost two minutes lead ahead of Portuguese Canadian double Rui Lacerda - Ricardo Coelho (+1:59.85), while Spanish duo Manuel Campos - Diego Romero finished in the bronze medal position (+2:34.71).
 
In the morning part of the programme Joao Sousa and Francisco Batista from Portugal celebrated the men's K2 junior European Champion title. It took them 1:39:01.61 to complete the 22,60 kilometres long course. Giovanni Penasa - Daniel Allen from Italy were second (+1:51.25), and the bronze medal went to the hands of Hungarians Benedek Hoffer - Mihaly Erdesz (+2:21.45).
 
The 2025 ECA Canoe Marathon European Championships will be held in Ponte de Lima, Portugal.
