The International Congress of canoe sprint and canoe slalom coaches in Catoira postponed to 2021

The International Congress of canoe sprint and canoe slalom coaches in Catoira postponed to 2021 6.4.2020

The International Congress of canoe sprint and canoe slalom coaches was supposed to take place this October in Catoira, but has been postponed to October 2021 due to coronavirus pandemic.

The president of the Royal Spanish Canoe Federation Juan José Román Mangas, and his counterpart from Galician Canoe Federation, Alfredo Bea García, together with the mayor of Catoira (Pontevedra), Xan Castaño, and the event's director, Manuel Isorna, have agreed in a virtual meeting to postpone the eighth edition of this congress in sprint canoeing and the second one in canoe slalom.

Manuel Isorna explained that all technicians from different countries which were expected to present their papers have been in favour of postponement due to coronavirus. The analysis of canoeing finals at the Olympic Games is part of the programme at the International Coaches Congress, and that forces the postponement of the organisation of this congress to date after the Olympic events in Tokyo. Also, the situation with the coronavirus pandemic is serious and also uncertain, which advises the delay of the congress, whose motto is 'For the well-being of athletes'.

The previous edition of the congress in 2018 welcomed about 300 participants from 21 countries.
