Spain announces women’s K4 500 metres crew

Spain announces women’s K4 500 metres crew 11.5.2018

Royal Spanish Canoe Federation (RFEP) announced the names of women's K4 500 metres crew that will participate at the 2018 ECA Canoe Sprint and Paracanoe European Championships in Belgrade. Sara Ouzande, Alicia Heredia, Isabel Contreras and Begoña Lazkano are the names of girls who will fight for the top positions in Serbia. The same crew also competed together last year. They finished third at a World Cup race in Szeged, Hungary, and were eighth in the A final of the World Championships in Račice, Czech Republic.

"It is a very young crew, which has its strength in the rapid start as well as the ability to develop a very fast first part of the race, being one of the fastest boats in this aspect," says their coach Jesús Buzón.

Girls will not only have a goal to achieve a good result in Belgrade. Their performance will be very important for the rest of the season as their final result will be crucial for the selection of the team for the World Championships in Montemor-o-Velho in August. According to the information we have received from the Spanish Federation, the crew needs to finish the race in Belgrade among the top eight boats in the A final. In a case they would finish ninth in the A final, they would have to produce a time within three seconds of the time, set by the fastest boat in this final.
