Spain and Germany celebrate Canoe Polo European Champion titles

Teams of Spain and Germany are the gold medallists of senior men’s and women’s ECA Canoe Polo European Championships tournament. Germany beat France 2 – 1 in senior women’s gold medal match, while Spain beat Germany 4 – 2 in men’s final.

Excellent canoe polo European Championships in Saint-Omer brought much happiness to teams of Germany and Spain who won the last gold medals of the tournament. Germany celebrated a success after their 2 – 1 victory in women’s final match against France which had loud support from the stands. Switzerland picked up bronze medal after their win against Great Britain with 4 goals to one.
Italy beat Netherlands 4 – 1 in a 5th place match, Denmark finished the tournament in seventh place, Czech Republic was eighth, Sweden ninth, Spain tenth, Poland eleventh and Russia twelfth in women’s part of the tournament.
In men’s final reigning World Games champions – the team of Germany – lost against the team of Spain which was in a good form today. Spain won 4 – 2. Spanish team lead already in the first half. They went to a break with 2 – 1 lead and kept the score safe until the last minutes of the match. The scored for the last time and the 4 – 2 result less than a minute before the end of the game time. Victor Gonzalez Azpiazu was the last scorer of the tournament.
In a bronze medal match 2016 World Champions from Italy beat Switzerland 2 – 1. Netherlands finished the tournament in fifth place, Denmark was sixth, Portugal seventh, Great Britain eighth, France ninth, Belgium tenth, Poland eleventh, Sweden twelfth, Russia thirteenth, Hungary 14th, Austria 15th, Ireland 16th and Ukraine 17th.
The 2019 ECA Canoe Polo European Championships will be organised in Coimbra, the medieval capital of Portugal.
