Portuguese Canoe Federation extends mandate until 2021 24.5.2020

Portuguese Canoe Federation announced they will postpone the elections to 2021 to follow the Olympic cycle. It was decided so in the general assembly and the elections will now be held after the Olympic Games.

President of the Portuguese Canoe Federation Vitor Felix said after the decision was made that the management and the federation wants to be evaluated for the participation at the Olympic Games, “We understand that only the solution we have adopted makes sense, to guarantee stability and tranquillity in the preparation and participation at the Tokyo Olympic Games. We know that the level of the sport is high, so the evaluation of this mandate must be made by our participation, although the recognition of the clubs for the good work that has been done in this Olympic cycle is evident, by the majority vote and the messages of support we have received for continuity.”

The decision was made in a video conference of the assembly members with 48 votes in favour and two abstained from voting.
