The always strong British paracanoe team arrived in Czechia with a powerful line-up and ambitions for top results. In the men's VL3 200 metres event, the best time in the first heat was set by Britain's Stuart Wood. Also securing places in the A final were Spain's Adrian Mosquera and France's Abel Aber. In the second heat, Ukraine's Vladyslav Yepifanov, Britain's Jack Eyers and Poland's Robert Wydera all booked their spots in the A final.

 

In the women's KL3 200 metres event, France's Nelia Barbosa posted the fastest time in the first heat, with Spain's Araceli Menduina and Poland's Katarzyna Kozikowska close behind. In the second heat, Britain's Laura Sugar paddled slightly faster than the French athlete. She was followed by Spain's Maria Jimenez and Italy's Amanda Embriaco.

 

The men's KL2 200 metres heats were tightly contested. In the first heat, Ukraine's Mykola Syniuk finished first, with Hungary's Tibor Kiss crossing the line about half a second later. France's Mehdi Deghmache came in third. In the second heat, Britain’s David Phillipson led the way, followed by Italy’s Christian Volpi and Serbia’s Strahinja Bukvic.

 

The men’s KL3 200 metres heats saw Serhii Yemelianov take the top spot. Formerly a medal-winner for Ukraine, he now successfully represents Georgia. He was fastest in the second heat, with Britain’s Jonathan Young in second and Poland’s Mateusz Surwilo in third. The first heat was won by Spain’s Juan Valle, ahead of France’s Gabin Keirel and Britain’s Robert Oliver.

 

The paracanoe semi-finals are scheduled for Friday.
