The 2023 Balkan Wildwater Canoeing Clubs Championships in Veles, North Macedonia, concluded with sprint individual and teams events. Representatives of North Macedonia and Serbia were the best in their respective events. Athletes from North Macedonia, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Kosovo, Montenegro, Slovenia and Malta took part in the competition.
Aleksandar Zlatarov made sure the win in the main category of the championships, men’s senior kayak, stayed at home, producing the fastest time in the sprint final. It took him 31.39 seconds to conclude the course. He set 0.23 seconds faster time than Marko Marjanović from Serbia, who was the best in classic race, but had to settle with silver medal in sprint race. Alen Tahirović, also from Serbia, was third. Kristijan Lazarov (MKD) won in men’s K1 U18 event, while Aleksa Milunović (SRB) won in U16 age group.
Jelena Knežević from Serbia was the fastest in women’s senior kayak sprint final. Despina Janakievsa from North Macedonia took silver medal, while bronze went to Montenegro thanks to Ana Raspopović. Ksenija Plaznić (SRB) was the winner of women’s U18 final and Sara Djurdjić (SRB) of women’s U16 event.
In men’s canoe Blagoj Guginov (MKD) took the win in U16 age group and Kristijan Lazarov (MKD) in U18 event.
