Golden day for Delassus family 7.7.2019

The 2019 ECA Junior and U23 Canoe Slalom European Championships in Liptovsky Mikulaš, Slovakia, concluded with four individual finals in women's C1 U23 and Junior event as well as in men's kayak U23 and Junior events. It was a day to remember for Delassus family. First Marjorie Delassus claimed European Champion title in women's C1 and in the last final of the day Anatole Delassus picked up gold medal in men's junior K1 event.


The final day of European Championships in Slovakia started and ended in French tones. Marjorie Delassus was the fastest paddler in women's canoe U23 final to win the gold medal and European Champion title ahead of two Czech representatives. Martina Satkova was second and Saturday's winner of women's K1 U23 final Tereza Fišerova was third in women's C1 event.
 
For an excellent day in Delassus family Anatole Delassus crossed the finish line with the best time in men's kayak junior final. He was 1.58 seconds faster than Spanish kayaker Pau Echaniz, while British representative Etienne Chappell won bronze medal in this event.
 
Slovaks celebrated gold medal and European Champion title in men's U23 kayak final. Jakub Grigar, who was their main favourite for the gold medal at Vah River, did not dissapoint. He won the only missing title in Junior or U23 category. Before this championships he was already Junior European and World Champion as well as U23 World Champion. To win the U23 European Champion title he crossed the finish line 1.35 seconds faster than Tomaš Zima from Czech Republic who won silver medal. Sergey Maimistov from Russia was third.
 
Gabriela Satkova from Czech Republic won the Junior European Champion title in women's C1 final, Elena Borghi from Italy was second and Bethan Forrow from Great Britain third.
 
Young canoe slalom paddlers will not have much rest. Junior and U23 World Championships starts in a week in Krakow, Poland.
