Spectators at the Swiss tournament witnessed 103 matches and 651 goals scored by 216 players. A total of 32 national teams from across Europe participated in the event.
The German national team celebrated two wins during the two-day tournament of the 2025 ECA Canoe Polo European Cup in Pfyn - one in the men's senior event and another in the men’s U21 category. In the senior final, Germany faced their long-time rivals Italy and came out on top with a narrow 4:3 victory. Lennart Unterfeld scored twice for Germany, while Jonas Vieren and Julian Prerscher added one goal each. For Italy, Andrea Costagliola scored two goals and Gianmarco Emanuele added one. In the match for third place, France defeated the Netherlands. In the men's senior category, Denmark's Mathias Wellendorph was the top scorer of the tournament with 10 goals, followed by France’s Leo Dehainault with 9, and Britain’s Caleb Bowden with 8.
In the women’s senior final, it was Germany versus the Netherlands, with the Dutch team emerging victorious with a 2:1 win. Alisha van der Berg secured the win for the Netherlands with both goals, while Jil Rutzen scored the goal for Germany. The third-place match was also closely contested, with Switzerland edging out France 3:2. In the women's senior category, France’s Camille Meyer was the top scorer with 11 goals, followed by the Netherlands' Alisha van der Berg with 8, and Switzerland’s Franziska Bartelt with 7.
As mentioned earlier, Germany also triumphed in the men’s U21 event. In the decisive match, they narrowly defeated France 5:4. Johannes Forster scored twice, while Gabriel Haurwaas and Philipp Homann each scored once. The winning goal was netted by Lennart Bockmann. For France, Ruas Nielsen and Ndiaye Elage both scored two goals in the final. Italy claimed third place after defeating the hosts, Switzerland. France's Ndiaye Elage was the top scorer in the U21 category with 12 goals, followed by Germany's Johannes Forster with 8. Ruas Nielsen (France), Caspar Polczynski (Denmark), and Luis Lombris (Switzerland) each scored 7.
France took the final tournament victory in the U21 women's category. In the final, they beat Italy 3:0, with goals from Sandre Meyer, Marie Abellard, and Maelyse Tirel. The Netherlands secured third place by defeating Great Britain. The top scorer of the U21 women’s tournament in Pfyn was the Netherlands’ Karlijn Bruggink with 8 goals, followed by French players Maelyse Tirel and Marie Abellard with 6 each.
The second tournament in the 2025 ECA Canoe Polo European Cup will take place on 21 and 22 June in Avranches, France.
