Germany and Hungary remain top canoe sprint, and Great Britain and Russia top paracanoeing forces in Europe

Germany and Hungary remain top canoe sprint, and Great Britain and Russia top paracanoeing forces in Europe 31.8.2017

An amazing atmosphere, loud cheering of the fans from the stands in the Sport Centre in Račice, Czech Republic, excellent finals and canoe sprint stars that showed their masterhood were the highlights of this year’s Canoe Sprint and Paracanoeing World Championships. The competition gets stronger every year and new names join already established names on the winner’s podiums both in Olympic and non-Olympic events.

This year athletes from fifteen countries (ten of them European) won medals at Paracanoeing World Championships and athletes from 25 countries (19 of them European) celebrated medals at the Canoe Sprint World Championships. British paracanoeing athletes returned home with three gold medals, silver and two bronze medals and Russia won one gold, and two silver and two bronze medals, making them the most successful European paracanoeing nations of the championships. On the other side Germany and Hungary also remain on the top of the canoe sprint medal table. Germany celebrated six world champion titles, five silver medals and a bronze, while Hungary concluded this championship with five gold medals, three silver medals and two bronze medals.
