The paracanoe programme of the 2025 ECA Canoe Sprint and Paracanoe European Championships concluded in Racice with the final five events. Vladyslav Yepifanov and Norberto Mourao repeated their gold medal performances from last year, once again taking the top step of the podium.
On the last competition day of the championships in Czechia, Portuguese celebrations were sparked by Norberto Mourao, who claimed gold in the men’s VL2 200 event. He crossed the finish line just under a second ahead of Britain’s Edward Clifton. Spain’s Higinio Rivero was also within a second of the winner, securing the bronze medal. Mourao successfully defended his European champion title from 2024.
Ukraine’s Vladyslav Yepifanov continued his dominance in the men’s VL3 200 event. The reigning European and World Champion finished almost two seconds ahead of the field. Britain’s Stuart Wood claimed silver, while Spain’s Adrian Mosquera took bronze.
Great Britain reaffirmed its strength in paracanoe with Laura Sugar securing victory in the women’s KL3 200 event. She finished 1.747 seconds ahead of France’s Nelia Barbossa, with Spain’s Maria Jimenez taking bronze. Defending champion Araceli Menduina of Spain finished fifth.
In the women’s VL2 200 event, Italy’s Veronica Biglia was the fastest, followed by Spain’s Ines Felipe and Germany’s Edina Mueller.
Germany also celebrated a victory in the women’s VL1 200 event, with Chinette Lauridsen taking gold. Last year’s champion, Italy’s Viktoryia Shablova, finished second, while Germany’s Lillemor Koeper completed the podium in third.
