After four days of intense tournament, the 2025 ECA Canoe Polo European Championships concluded in Avranches, France. In the Men’s Senior tournament, the European crown went to Spain, while Germany claimed gold in the Women’s Senior event. The host nation France celebrated victory in the Men’s U21 tournament, and Spain topped the podium in the Women’s U21 category. France took medals in every event and made the most of the home advantage, particularly in the Men’s U21 final.
The final match of the championship saw Spain face off against Italy in the Men’s Senior Final. The score was level at 2–2 at the end of regular time, and it was a golden goal in the overtime that secured Spain’s 3–2 triumph. The winning goal came from Samuel Pardavilla Lorenzo, following a fine assist by Antonio Romero Mesa. Spain’s other goals were scored by Ángel Gordo Herrero and Alejandro Casal Da Silva, while Andrea Silvio Costagliola and Fabrizio Massa found the net for Italy. Spain reached the final with a 3–2 win over Switzerland, and Italy progressed after defeating France by the same score in the semi-final.
France clinched the bronze medal with a 5–3 win over Switzerland. In the fifth-place playoff, Germany beat defending champions Denmark 3–1, while Great Britain secured seventh place by overcoming Portugal 6–2.
In the Women’s Senior Final, Germany successfully defended their European title from two years ago in Brandenburg. This time, they faced the Netherlands and secured a commanding 6–2 victory. Nele Schmalenbach scored a hat-trick, captain Svenja Schaeper added two goals, and Leonie Wagner contributed one. For the Dutch side, Linda van As and Alisha van der Berg were successful. The Netherlands had reached the final with a dominant 8–1 win over Spain, while Germany edged past France 2–1 in the semi-finals.
France claimed bronze, beating Spain 5–2. Denmark took fifth place with a 3–1 victory over Switzerland, and Italy finished seventh after narrowly defeating Great Britain 2–1.
The Marseillaise played to honour the French victory in the Men’s U21 final, where the hosts narrowly beat Germany 3–2. Etienne Lepvraud scored twice, and Nielsen Ruas added the third, while Henning May and Johannes Foerster scored for Germany. To reach the final, France defeated reigning champions Italy 4–2, while Germany beat Spain 2–1.
Spain took bronze with a 2–1 win over Italy, and Switzerland finished fifth after a 5–1 victory over Great Britain. Denmark secured seventh place, beating the Netherlands 4–3.
In the Women’s U21 final, it was Spain who triumphed with a convincing 4–1 win over France. Marta Canosa Maceiras scored twice, with Raquel Calvente Reboll and Chiara Perez Dikuasa adding one goal each. Marie Abellard scored the lone goal for France. In the semi-finals, France had swept aside title holders Netherlands 5–0, while Spain edged Germany 3–2.
The Netherlands bounced back to take bronze, beating Germany 3–1. Italy claimed fifth place with a tight 4–3 win over Great Britain, and Poland finished seventh after a dominant 8–1 win against Ireland.
