ECA Board Meets in Slovenia for a Two-Day Strategic Working Session 14.11.2025
The European Canoe Association (ECA) held its Board Meeting last weekend in Slovenia, hosted with the support of the Slovenian Canoe Federation and the Slovenian Olympic Committee. Board members gathered for two productive days focused on key organisational topics and the long-term strategic direction of canoeing in Europe.

The meeting took place in a constructive and collaborative atmosphere, enabling in-depth discussions on matters essential to governance and sport development.

Main Topics Covered – Saturday, 8 November 2025

Board members received the President’s and CEO’s reports, approved the minutes of the previous meeting, and confirmed an online decision regarding the Recreational Committee.

Key decisions on the agenda included:

  • Establishment of the Paddle Europe Headquarters,
  • Hosting fees and accreditation fees,
  • Implementation of the new Paddle Europe name,
  • TV broadcasting and streaming strategy,
  • Update of financial rules and regulations,
  • Allocation of vacant 2027 calendar positions,
  • Launch of the 2028 bidding process,
  • Review of the Recreational Committee’s activities,
  • 2026+ Sustainability strategic plan,
  • Presentation of new and former medals,
  • Matters concerning uniforms,
  • Appointment of the 2026 Jury,
  • Nomination of the Chairs for the CSP and CSL Technical Committees.

Strategic Discussions – Sunday, 9 November 2025

The second day focused on forward-looking topics, including:

  • Strategy related to partners and sponsors,
  • Updates on the Paddle Europe 2.0 project and initiatives under the ICF Innovation Fund,
  • 2025–2026 finance report,
  • 2026 development strategy,
  • Qualification system for LA2028,
  • Dragon Boat strategy,
  • Initial directions for ECA & Education,
  • Assessment of ECA’s jurisdiction over other European competitions.
