ECA announces some differences from ICF Canoe Slalom rules

ECA announces some differences from ICF Canoe Slalom rules 6.5.2019

With new 2019 ICF Canoe Slalom rules that were taken into effect on January 1st 2019 ECA updated its special rules for Canoe Slalom European Championships.

The progression at European Championships still differs from the ICF’s, and there is one novelty included. With a wish for better sport and media presentation defending European Canoe Slalom champions will have a right to participate and defend their titles regardless of the outcome of their national selection races.

This rule will only be applied at Senior Canoe Slalom European Championships and states, “A National Federation is entitled to enter up to three (3) boats in each Canoe Slalom individual event, and a single team in each team event at the World Championships. Additionally to before mentioned three (3) boats defending champion has right to participate at the event. Defending champion wears special bib “European Champion (year).”

The 2019 European Championships progression system:

MK1: To SF – 20 boats, To SF from Heats 2 run –10 boats, To the final – 15 boats

WK1:  To SF – 15 boats, To SF from Heats 2 run – 5 boats, To the final – 10 boats

MC1: To SF – 15 boats, To SF from Heats 2 run – 5 boats, To the final – 10 boats

WC1: To SF – 15 boats, To SF from Heats 2 run –5 boats, To the final – 10 boats
