Dajana Pefestorff has been unanimously elected to the position of the president of the German Canoe Federation. She has been connected to canoeing from her youth, as she comes from canoeing family. Her mother was an active kayaker, and her brother also pursued this passion. Dajana herself has been an enthusiastic paddler since her childhood and still lives this enthusiasm whenever her professional and voluntary commitments allow it. She has also passed on her passion for sport to her children, who are both active in canoeing.

 

In her first speech, Pefestorff emphasized her motivation and joy in the task ahead of her: “My election as President of the German Canoe Federation is not only an honour, but also an obligation. I look forward to leading the federation with passion, commitment and a clear view of the future. Together I would like to strengthen the community in the federation and grow canoeing in all its facets in Germany,” said Pefestorff.

 

In addition to her long-standing commitment to club life in Wassersportfreuden Pirschheide e.V. since 2007, she has been the acting president of the Brandenburg State Canoe Association since 2019. Under her successful leadership, the state association experienced significant success, and she is very familiar with the sports system at the state and federal level in popular and competitive sports. Her election as president marks an important turning point for the federation.

 

“It is an incredible honour for me to be elected president by the representatives of the state canoe federations. The trust that the approximately 129,000 members have placed in me touches me with a deep feeling of gratitude. The election is a result of our shared vision for the federation and our shared commitment to canoeing in Germany,” said Pefestorff.
