 Czech Republic took all the wins in Ceske Budejovice 3.9.2022

The course in Ceske Budejovice hosted the 2022 ECA Wildwater Sprint Canoeing European Cup race and all the wins in five events stayed in the hands of Czech competitors.


Just a week ago young wildwater canoeing competitors fought for the Junior and U23 European Champion titles at the 2022 ECA Junior and U23 Wildwater Canoeing European Championships in Banja Luka, Bosnia and Herzegovina, where Czech competitors dominated in majority of the events. The European Cup race held this weekend in Ceske Budejovice was similar. In five events that were held on the Vltava River, all five gold medals stayed in the hands of local competitors.
 
Athletes from Czech Republic, Slovenia, Switzerland, Austria, France, Bosnia and Herzegovina and North Macedonia took part in one of the last major international wildwater competitions in the season 2022.
 
Marie Nemcova who was very successfully representing Czech Republic at Junior and U23 European Championships in Banja Luka was again the strongest in both women's events. In kayak, she was a second faster than her teammate Tereza Kneblova and Klara Vankova, who like Nemcova and Kneblova represented her country at recently concluded European Championships was third.
 
In women's canoe Nemcova finished the race ahead of Anna Retkova and Jana Strlikova, who were among the medallists of the Junior and U23 European Championships last week.
 
The fastest in men's kayak was Vojtech Matejicek who concluded the race a second ahead of Anze Urankar from Slovenia, the 2017 Senior World Champion. Mikulas Zapletal from Czech Republic was third, and the reigning world champion Nejc Znidarcic was outside the podium, in fourth place.
 
Czech competitors were places first, second and third in men's canoe final. Matej Vanek was celebrating a win ahead of Vladimir Slanina and Marek Rygel. Vanek also won in C2 event, where he paddled together with Karel Rasner. Vaclav Svadlena and Martin Novak were second, while Alva Beier and Matous Beier concluded the race in third place.
