Just like the opening day of kayak team events, where Czechia and Germany each claimed two victories, Thursday saw the Czech anthem played twice for victories in the canoe team events, while the French anthem also played twice.
In the women’s junior canoe team event, the Czech trio of Marketa Stepankova, Valentyna Kocirova, and Barbora Ondrackova dominated the race. They beat their closest rivals from Spain—Anna Simona, Ainara Goikoetxea, and Ainhoa Segura—by over two and a half seconds. The bronze medal went to Poland’s Hanna Danek, Julia Kirkowska, and Patrycja Iwaniec.
The Czech U23 women’s team also secured gold, thanks to Tereza Kneblova, Adriana Morenova, and Olga Samkova, who won by a margin of 2.38 seconds. The German team of Kimberley Rappe, Amelie Plochmann, and Lucie Krech took silver, while France’s Doriane Delassus, Zoe Laurent, and Nina Pesce-Roue claimed bronze.
In the junior men's canoe team event, the European champions were France’s Leo Ulmer, Titouan Estanguet, and Matheo Senechault. Italy’s Riccardo Pontarollo, Lars Aaron Senoner, and Dennis Fina finished second, while Germany’s Jakob Ugvari, Anton Weber, and Pascal Brandenburg took bronze.
The French anthem also played for the U23 men’s canoe team winners, as Elouan Debliquy, Martin Cornu, and Yohann Senechault climbed to the top of the podium. Poland’s Szymon Nowobilski, Krzysztof Ksiazek, and Szymon Sowizral secured silver, with the bronze going to Italy’s Elio Maiutto, Martino Barzon, and Marino Spagnol.
Earlier in the day, individual heats in junior and U23 canoe events were held. In the women’s junior category, the fastest runs came from Britain’s Zoe Blythe-Shields, Czechia’s Barbora Ondrackova, and Switzerland’s Eyleen Vuilleumier. In the men’s junior heats, Slovenia’s Ziga Lin Hocevar posted the best time, followed by France’s Titouan Estanguet and Slovakia’s Dominik Egyhazy.
In the U23 category, the fastest women were Slovenia’s Eva Alina Hocevar, Czechia’s Tereza Kneblova, and France’s Doriane Delassus. Among the men, the top spots were claimed by Czechia’s Lukas Kratochvil and France’s Yohann Senechault and Elouan Debliquy.
Friday’s schedule includes the semi-finals and finals in kayak events for both the U23 and junior categories.
