Bosnian kayaker Darko Savić wins European Cup race in front of his fans

After ECA Wildwater Sprint Canoeing European Cups in Skopje and on Kolpa River the race series moved to Bosnia and Herzegovina. Vrbas River in Banja Luka which will also host World Cup event this season was a site of the third ECA Wildwater Sprint Canoeing European Cup. Bosnian kayaker was the fastest in men’s K1 event to celebrate in his home town.


Darko Savić produced the fastest time in men’s K1 final to pick up a win and celebrate a win almost half a second ahead of Austrian paddler Andreas Bosina. Marko Marjanović from Serbia was 0.86 seconds behind to win bronze medal.
 
In men’s C1 event there was not much difference from the first two races. It was a double win for Croatia with Luka Obadić winning the top spot and Ivan Tolić finishing the event in second place. Pavle Zdravković from Serbia was third.
 
Austrian team celebrated in women’s kayak final. Valentina Dreier had produced an excellent time to finish 4.27 seconds ahead of her Austrian compatriot Katrin Reithmayr. Maja Štimac from Croatia finished the competition in third place 5.49 seconds behind. In women’s canoe there were three athletes on the start line, but only Alba Zoe Gržin from Croatia finished the race.
 
Croatian duo Luka Obadić – Ivan Tolić was the fastest in men’s C2 final, Manuel Filzwiesser and Peter Draxl from Austria were second 1.63 seconds behind, and Serbians Pavle Zdravković – Ognjen Dimitrijević were third.
