Belgium Coast Race returned after two years

Belgium Coast Race returned after two years 24.10.2022

Following the two years break due to Covid restrictions, the Belgium Coast Race which was also the Open Belgium Championships, came back with participation of athletes from four countries.


The 2022 edition of the Belgium Coast Race attracted 30 athletes from Belgium, Germany, Netherlands and also Australia, and a total of 25 athletes managed to finish the 20 kilometres long challenge from Oostende (in front of the Fort Napoleon - Military Fortress from 1811) heading north to Zeebrugge.
 
It was 21-year-old Sammy Feys from De Panne who crossed the finish line in the first position after one hour, 19 minutes and 21 seconds. Christian Callebout and Jan Laenen were second and third respectively in absolute standings.
 
Chloe Porton was the winner in women’s category, while Kjell de Bruyn dominated in the SUP.
 
The competition attracted athletes from 10 to 79 years, as the youngest paddler on the start was Mylo van Bakel from Holland who competed in the SS2 with his father Joep van Bakel, while the oldest participant was 79-year-old Marc Moens from Belgium.
 
The next edition of the Belgium Coast Race will take place between 30 September and 1 October 2023.
