Andrea Herzog Sportswoman of the year in Leipzig 7.2.2020

German canoe slalom paddler Andrea Herzog was named Sportswoman of the year in Leipzig, Germany's eighth most populous city. Canoe Sprinter Tina Dietze finished second in the poll.


Following the successful season 2019 Andrea Herzog received the award for the best Sportswoman of the year 2019 in Leipzig, finishing the poll ahead of sprint kayaker Tina Dietze and swimmer Marie Pietruschka.
20-year-old canoe slalom paddler celebrated World Champion title in women’s canoe at the Canoe Slalom World Championships in La Seu d’Urgell as well as winning the quota for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. Last year Andrea also picked up silver medal in women’s C1 team race of the European Championships in Pau.

Tina Dietze who finished second in this edition of the best Sportspersons in Leipzig was second in the women’s K2 200 metres event of European Games in Minsk together with Franziska John.
Andrea Herzog received another award for her success in the last year. She was also named Elite student in sports of the year. The German Olympic Sports Confederation (DOSB) and the Sparkassen-Finanzgruppe have been honouring the ‘elite students of sport’ annually since 2009. They are rewarded for their special achievements and at the same time, through their personalities, they are role models for all elite students.
