2022 ECA Canoe Polo Clubs European Champion titles to Italy 25.9.2022

Belfast hosted the 2022 ECA Canoe Polo Clubs European Championships on Saturday and Sunday and it was teams from Italy that celebrated European Champion titles – Polisportiva Canottieri Catania in women’s tournament and ASD Pro Scogli Chiavari in men’s part of the tournament.


In women’s final French team Avranches and Italian Polisportiva Canottieri Catania stood against each other in the fight for the gold medal and European Champion title. It was Italian team that celebrated 3 – 2 win in a tight match against Avranches.
 
It was Italian team that took the lead and scored for 1-0, which was the final result of the first period. In the second period Avranches  showed better play and scored twice for the 2-1 lead. Polisportiva Canottieri Catania managed to score their second goal of the match before the end of the second period and with a tie, it was clear there will be an extra period. In the decisive part of the match team from Catania scored for the third time and celebrated a win.
 
In women’s tournament the bronze medal went to A. D. Pinatar from Spain, after 3-2 win against Canoe Kayak Club Acigne. The first period ended 1-1. In the second period Acigne scored once and A. D. Pinatar twice to secure themselves a medal.
 
In men’s final the gold medal too went to Italy, more precisely to ASD Pro Scogli Chiavari. They won 3-1 in a match against Avranches. Italians were leading 2-1 in a first period and scored one more time in the second period, for the final score 3-1.
 
In a bronze medal match two German teams were fighting for the bronze medal. KSVH Berlin beat Meidericher Kanu Club Duisburg 3-2. The team from Berlin took a 2-0 lead, but Duisburg lowered the score to 2-1 before the end of the first period. In the second period Duisburg scored again for the tie, and the match went on into three extra periods. At the end Berlin scored for the third time which brought them bronze medal.
Back
