17 European nations with allocated canoe slalom quotas for Paris 2024

17 European nations with allocated canoe slalom quotas for Paris 2024 21.10.2023

International Canoe Federation (ICF) has officially published the list of allocated canoe slalom quotas for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games following the World Championships in Lee Valley this September.

All the European nations already know all canoe slalom allocated quotas after the World Championships in London - Lee Valley a month ago, as well as European continental quotas. Namely, the European qualifying competition was already held this June as the results of the European Games Krakow-Malopolska 2023 counted for the allocation of continental Olympic quotas. At the moment, there are 24 countries with at least one quota, 17 of them are European. And seven of these 24 countries have managed to qualify their athletes in all four events. These countries are Czechia, Spain, France, Great Britain, Italy, Slovenia and Slovakia.

Germany, Poland and Ireland have managed to earn quota in three events, quotas in two events were allocated to Austria, Netherlands and Switzerland, while one quota was allocated to Andorra, Croatia, Sweden and Ukraine.

Non-European countries with allocated quotas are Australia, Brazil, China, Japan, Morocco, New Zealand and United States of America.

Four European quotas were allocated on the basis of the results at the European Games Krakow-Malopolska 2023, which served as the European continental qualifier. Women's canoe quota was allocated to Slovenia, men's canoe quota to Netherlands, women's kayak quota to Ireland and men's kayak quota to Austria.

Three quotas for both the men’s and women’s kayak cross will be up for grabs in Prague in June next year. Only athletes who have not yet earned a quota will be able to compete for the three positions.

A total of 82 quotas will be allocated for Paris (41 - men, 41 - women). Although only three quotas will be allocated for kayak cross for both men and women, athletes competing in K1 and C1 will be permitted to compete in the debut of kayak cross in Paris.

The full list of country quota allocations can be found here.
